Nothing can be more attracted to the students than to witness the process of enology in a real chateau. CIE organized a field trip to enology laboratory and Yangling Shentang China Lihua Chateau on October 11th for the CIE students majoring in food science and engineering.
The exciting visit started as the students stepped into the labs with the guidance of teachers. The lab’s space design strictly follows the procedures of enology experiments. Over 50 thousand bottles of red wine are stacked neatly in the 36 sections of the wine cellar, giving off pleasant smell. The teachers then explained in details the knowledge of enology and wine making --- the canning, the proper condition for storage, the differences of wine planting between north and south China, and the differences between the planting of fruit grape and vintage grape.
The students were completed absorbed in the lecture given by the teacher and actively spoke out their confusions after that. The Q&A session was going so well and answers from teachers were so informative that the students took pages of notes.
Cold as it was, nothing can cool down the students’ enthusiasm in learning. They have acquired so much professional knowledge about grape wine, from the planting to the essential appliances for making wine, from the skills to the culture. This practice greatly arouse their interest in scientific research and help them with setting clear goals of study.
