On November 4th , 2018, under the leadership of the student counselor, the Y2018 CIE students came to the Apple Experiment Demonstration Station of NWAFU in Qianyang County, Baoji City, for field teaching. This study tour is designed to motivate the students' interest in life science research, familiarize them with the important role of modern fruit industry technology research and development and achievement transformation in talent cultivation.

The Qianyang Apple Experimental Demonstration Station mainly focuses on the intensive cultivation mode of modern apple dwarf stock, the introduction and selection of apple dwarf rootstock resources, the selection and evaluation of apple rootstock combination, and the construction of breeding technology system of high-quality dwarf rootstock seedling. It is used for demonstration and promotion of key technologies such as trimming and mechanization application, efficient use of fertilizer and water, medicinal machinery applied in flower and fruit thinning, organic apple cultivation, and storage and preservation of fruits. The staff of the demonstration station warmly received the visitors. The Director introduced the demonstration station to the students. Relying on the advantages of NWAFU’s scientific research and talent resources, the station have realized the deep integration of production, study and research in the cultivation of excellent varieties, planting technology experiments and promotion of organic apples. Then the students visited the apple seedling demonstration area and saw the experimental results of the teachers and learned about the growth characteristics of different varieties. Then they came to Baoji Haisheng Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd., whose staff explained the details of the company's production line. The company enjoys the largest photoelectric automatic apple sorting and packaging line in Asia. According to the indicators of fruit diameter, color, acidity, sugar content and intrinsic quality, the apples are sorted and graded with high precision.

Finally, under the leadership of the Director, the students came to the Haisheng National Dwarf Apple Integrated Standardization Demonstration Park. The students once again deeply understood the cultivation model of dwarf stock apples---large seedling construction, dense planting, grid cultivation, water and fertilizer integration and mechanical operation. The introduction greatly impress the students and stimulate their interest in study and research.

This teaching practice familiarizes the students with science knowledge and furthers their understanding of research work. It will help the students associate the study with product practice. The students have been greatly inspired and intrigued in research and professional study.
