Embraced with fragrance of osmanthus brought by the autumn wind, the campus of NWAFU demonstrates its elegance in this golden season and witnesses the hilarious sports day co-hosted by CIE, College of Food Science and Engineering and College of Enology. On October 21st, the cool breeze and mizzle led the Y2018 students of the three colleges to the playground of north campus. Their passion, courage, dedication and ambition soon ignited the vast oval field.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, the Games officially opened. After the solemn flag-raising ceremony, Li Haihua, Party Secretary of CIE, delivered an opening speech. She said: "Colleges and universities need to train socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor." She then spoke highly of the diligence and persistence in training, and expressed the hope that the students would play forward the university motto and overcome difficulties for great success. Subsequently, the athlete representatives and the referee representatives made the pledge. Party Secretary of College of Food Science and Engineering, Zhang Zhenhua announced the begin of the Games.

The Games consisted of 12 competitions and 4 field competitions. The athletes on the field were like dragons soaring and dashing in the sun. With tenacity and perseverance, they took every single step firmly, overcome all difficulties and harvested friendship. The audience vigorously cheered for the athletes and gave the warmest and sincere greetings to every athlete who insisted on crossing the finish line. The meticulous referees led the athletes to the designated locations and ensured the fairness of each competition. The teachers were playing a role of patron during the competition to guarantee the orderliness of the Games. The success of sports meeting is attributed to the cooperation and joint efforts of the teachers and students, demonstrating the excellence of Youren College.

"Sport has become an important indicator of national strength and social development. In my opinion, doing sports is not only a way of enhancing physical fitness, imparting knowledge and skills of exercise, but also a process of enhancing moral education. We hope this sports meeting will increase the students’ interest in P.E. for their comprehensive development."Students Counselor Zhang Shicheng said.

Though the long-distance running is the most demanding event to the athletes' physical strength and perseverance, no athlete has given up as the cool autumn was warmed by the audience enthusiasm . Liu Zeyu, the 3,000-meter finalist of the women's team, said: "The long-distance running is not so difficult. This is a rare opportunity. Everyone should actively come and enjoy the games. They mean more than competitions but precious memories.” The student referee Zhu Xinzheng said: “Although the job seems very hard, we took care of each other, carefully timed, and promised the fairness of the competition."

In the end, the Food Engineering class 1801 won the top prize, followed by the second prize winner Food Safety class 1802 and third prize winner Food Safety class 1804.The Food Safety class 1801, the International class1803, the Food Safety class 1803, and Food Engineering class 1806 and Enology Class 1806 won the fourth to eight places respectively.

This sports meeting aims to ease the study pressure for a rich and colorful university life with strong body. The athletes’ endeavor in competition demonstrated their tenacious and hard-working spirit, which has been a beautiful scenery in this autumn.
