To further develop students’ innovation and practical skills, improve the rapport between students, enrich campus cultural life, and implement San Zou spirit, on April 14th, CIE successfully held the kite cultural festival under the theme of “connect to nature and feel the spring”.
CIE used both online and offline approaches for event promotion. The festival was advertised on the new media including CIE’s official WeChat account and QQ account, and the students could sign up either individual participant or team by leaving message to the official account. Whereas offline, student officers, message board, and bulletin board were all involved in the promotion. The student union, on the other hand, was responsible for preparatory works like the provisions of kites and pigments. The students demonstrated strong interest in the festival.
During the event, participants painted their own kites according to their original thoughts and the organizing officers’ instruction. Some drew their favourite cartoon character, others depicted their beloved plants. After painting, the students flew their kites on the university’s playground with great excitement. Ding Ka from Grade 2017 said, “I’m willing to attend this kind of activity where I can paint what I want and fly the kite high in the sky with my friends. The kite cultural festival combines both education and entertainment, allowing me to go offline, go outside the dormitory, and go the playground and feeling the beautiful things around me.”
This kite cultural festival enriches the students’ extracurricular hours and improved the relationship among students. It is also an opportunity for the students to develop their innovation and practical skills and enjoy the outdoor activities. Meanwhile, this activity also upgrades CIE students’ innovation and teamwork, contributing to the establishment of campus culture.
