From: Student Work Office      By: Zhao Xuan      Date: 2017-10-11

To help new students of 2017 quickly fit in with the university life and develop favorable living and studying habits. On the evening of September 29th, CIE successfully organized an experience sharing meeting in the multimedia classroom on the 1st floor of the college building.

During the meeting, 16 sophomore students from various majors shared their study method and skills to the new students.

Student representatives shared their study experiences in basic modules such as Advanced Mathematics and General Biology and in scientific research. They elaborated on the possible difficulties and setbacks in university life and encouraged the new students to set life goals and positively embrace the university life through abundant studies and frequent communications. Regarding Advanced Mathematics study, An Zhengyang proposed sufficient practice and reflections. Pan Yating emphasized a solid grasp of key concepts and timely review in General Biology, as well as lab report writing and note taking. Zheng Renwei and Zhang Xinlu shared their experiences in chemistry and English learning, stressing the importance of preview, exercise, and language intuition. Liu Caiji said major selection should be based on personal interest and there is no need to rush the decision. Each representative shared one aspect of learning which aimed to help the new students know about and get ready for the academic life ahead. At the end of the meeting, Chen Yiqing shared study method and told the students to develop good study habit, adjust mental attitude, and coordinate study and life.

The Q&A session experiences a warm atmosphere in which the freshmen actively raised their questions and the sophomore representatives answered accordingly.

After the meeting, Liu Dongning from Biotechnology Class 1704 said, “University life is not as easy as what I used to think. Every subject is profound. The study methodology and experience I get from the meeting are beneficial. I will apply them into my future study and turn them into my soft skill. I hope to start my university life and new life chapter with high spirits.”

This experience sharing meeting helped the new students to gain a clearer plan for future course leaning, which will be helpful for good habit development, positive attitude cultivation, and better adaption to future university life.
