“Dear brother, what is your university like? Is there any possible that I could go to study there?
“The university is big and beautiful. We have many excellent teachers and fellows students there. Of course you will be one of them one day. Welcome!”
What a moving and inspiring conversation! It happed in the Cultural Center of Huangguan County between the CIE WWF volunteers there and the local kids.
Different from the traditional voluntary teaching, a group of seven WWF volunteers from NWAFU came to Huangguan Town for the second time with new teaching methods and ideas. In addition to teaching the kids knowledge, the volunteers organized various of vision-broadening activities to the young children. With the principle of “Knowledge Associated with Moral Education”, the teaching covered 8 topics including gratitude, environmental protection, personal dream, safety, science and psychological health. One topic a day, the children greatly enjoyed the innovative teaching which helped them set clear life goal with a heart of gratitude.
On the class of gratitude, the children were told to embrace a thankful heart to our great nation. They were then encouraged to draw a family picture and write down the words to share with parents and other family members. The lovely paintings and sincere remarks were best manifestation of children’s love and gratitude to their family.
Shortage of material life can never hinder the children expressing love, while the tough living condition will by no means sway the volunteers’ determination to support the teaching in remote areas. It is the lovely volunteers who take their mission of helping others with practical actions and contribute to the fulfillment of China Dream.
