To improve the students’ research proficiency and facilitate their communication, CIE organized series of mini-seminars for the students. In groups, the students were required to do the group discussion and presentation on seminars. Teachers Li houhua from College of Landscape Architecture and Arts, Li Shaojun and Ma Pengda from College of Life Science were invited to the seminars respectively as instructors.
Group Discussion
Working in groups, the students listed the confusions and problems they were confronted with when doing experiments of scientific innovation program and then sought help from the instructors for solutions. The interaction soon did its work. The students acquired the skills of retrieving information, searching Chinese or English professional literature and distinguishing professional and non-professional literature.
Results Presentation
Having attended one-term seminars, the groups then summed up their experience and shared with other groups by presentation. They received high appreciation and encouragement for their innovative ideas and presentation content from the instructors who also gave constructive suggestions.
Organizing these seminars were a double gain to some extent. On one hand, it helps the students to gain more fundamentals of scientific research and improves their research proficiency in the way of exchanging ideas. On the other hand, it has greatly fostered their enthusiasm for scientific research and laid solid foundation for further achievement.
