In response to the call of national campaign Love Life, Love Yourself, the first NWAFU Sherlock Holmes Inference Contest co-organized by Youren College, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering and College of Agronomy was held, which enriched the students’ college life and improved their abilities of reasoning and cooperation. Among over 200 participants at the preliminary contest, eight groups stood out and grasped the tickets for the final.

Preliminary Contest

7:30 p.m. June 4th, the preliminary of Sherlock Holmes Inference Contest was officially launched in No.8 teaching building where over 200 participants competed for the final tickets. Reasoning test, Sudoku puzzle and optimal cases were designed to test the participants’ ability of observation and logical deduction. The first eight groups with highest score were to reach the final.

The final was held on the evening of June 16th in Xiushan Student Center on north campus. The members of panel were Dou Long (NWAFU Psychological Counseling Center), Yang Hua (Secretary of Youth League Committee of Agronomy College), Qiao Hiaying (Secretary of Youth League Committee of College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering), Zhao Xingyu (Secretary of Youth League Committee of College of Enology) and Wang Aiqin (Secretary of Youth League Committee of CIE). Through fierce competition, Silver Bullet group won the title of Young Detectives and Mr. Dou Long awarded the champion the meld of King of Inference.

All For the Enthusiasts

Before the closing of the contest, Mr. Dou Long shared his views with the audience: “ We teacher have been taking the goal of improving your abilities as our career guidelines. IQ does matter, while EQ serves as a more vital role in your future life. I hope you all can overcome the difficulties physically and spiritually. We teacher will always be on your side.” 

This activity built up a platform for students to demonstrate their talents, which improves their abilities of observation and inference, and develop their positive attitude to life.
