Oriented as experimental field of reform in cultivation model and teaching methods, as well as new field of students-directed development system, CIE has always prioritized the academic atmosphere. With one-term effort in expanding students’ vision, reinforcing English learning and constructing class unit, we have achieved initial success. In the term examinations of 2015 autumn, 98% Y2015 students passed the final tests. Over 90% students passed the CET-4, which is as good as before. What is more, class 1501 of Bio-technology made a perfect beginning for their 4-year college study---no flunk in either final examinations or CET—4.
Vision Broadened and Goal Oriented
CIE has attached great importance to developing students’ interests in scientific research and exploring their potential. Series of activities have been organized to have the student more engaged in the research training and have then set their goal. Visiting labs, academic salon, poster design competition, Bio-Club seminars and other activities furthered students’ understating of science and improved their research competence.
Enhancing English Learning via Competition
“Hunger Flashcards” is an innovative practice of CIE in enriching students’ lexical resources. Students could get the cards when they register for morning exercise. They can then take advantage of any spare time to memorize the words printed on cards. Lead by the college, students set up the student-directed “Morning Reading Association”, members of which gathered at certain place at fixed time to learn English. Academic department of student union organizes spelling competition fortnightly to examine the word memory and revise or further their plan accordingly.
Demonstration Class Honor
To create good academic atmosphere college-wide and to raise the students’ awareness in academic study, CIE initiated the Honor Class activities.
