| From Jan 30th to Feb 11th, 2012, Professor Nel Wognum and Professor Wouter Hazeleger from Wageningen University was invited to our university for the teaching and selection of Honor Students program, which symbolizes the further development in introducing superior teaching resources. Busy as the students were, they benefited much from this program in which they experienced the graduate education of the first class international agricultural university, and shared their learning experience and feelings.
European Lecture in A&F Animal Science (2009) Yan Dongdong The PhaseHonor Students Program of Wageningen University terminated in complete success. In retrospect to the teaching in the two phases, I was impressive at nothing but the joy in learning new things. As graduation approaching, it was really a great opportunity for me to experience the teaching conducted at A&F by Holland teachers. What I benefited most is a life motto or spirit: be sensible in making option, be brave to accept challenge and be smart to seize opportunity. The chance will reach out for us in turn.
My Feeling of W-program Animal Science (Grade 2009) Hu Xinde When the whole country was enjoying the joy of Spring Festival, we came back to university from cozy home for the curriculum of PhaseHonor Students Program of Wageningen University. However, the suffering of tough living condition soon was overwhelmed by the excitement of learning new knowledge and the ecstasy of achievement. In fact, we owe much to our energetic and humorous teacher, a 61-year-old grandpa——Mr Wouter who sometimes plays jokes on us and brought us both knowledge and rejoice. The courses offered this time serve to enrich our professional knowledge, and provided us with a Non-Chinese learning environment, which inspired us in English learning and daily communication. Even now, we prefer to communicate with our classmates in English, which greatly motivated our English learning. Mr Wouter also shared his ideas of how to be a good scientist. He said, an excellent scientist should always be curious about everything. In addition, he encouraged us to focus our research on anything we were interested in. He for one changed his first research orientation of Biochemistry to variety of hormone as a result of his occasion confrontation with the later subject. From then on, he devoted himself to Animal Reproduction. Speaking for myself, what we have done is worthwhile and valuable to us, even at the price of sacrificing the rest time.
My Benefits from W-Program Teaching Animal Science Class 086 Li Lifei It means more than an opportunity for me, an undergraduate student of A&F to take part in the Honor Students Program of Wageningen University, since what I have learnt during the past month will be lifelong benefits to me.
First, our teachers who made it possible for us to experience different class, like open teaching and learning style, were experienced experts invited from one of the best world famous universities, Wageningen University. Second, we were encouraged to put our professional knowledge into practice as what was spoken highly in foreign countries. In addition, we enjoyed the harmonious relationship between teachers and students. More often than not, we discussed over the solutions to some questions as old friends did. Brief as only one month was, we have got clear views on different advantages between Chinese and foreign teaching. Specifically, Chinese teaching emphasizes the solid foundation of knowledge while the foreign teaching attaches greater importance to the application of knowledge. If the two teaching methods can reasonably combined, our students will definitely attain more. All the students won't allow this opportunity for Going Out to slide by. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the teachers for their devotion of time and effort in this program.
My Suggestions on W-program Animal Since Class 082 Qaio Hanbin The two vocations, almost one month in total was devoted to the learning of four courses. In fact, I compare my experience to a brief but fantastic journey in which we enjoyed joy, handled difficulties and overcame setbacks. However, no matter what changed us, we have never stopped moving forward until we leap to an upper stage of life. Down to earth and strict with ourselves, we gained not only experience and knowledge, but also friendship and life reflections. I will share some reflections over this program: English competence comes first in learning advanced technology, every second is precious, interview and communication can broaden one’s views, team work is the best solution to tough problems. Besides, I venture to voice my suggestions on this program: First, the vocation is the best choice for this kind of teaching, because the students will be free from other irrelevant affairs and concentrated on curriculum, and enjoy more communication with foreign teachers; second, mini-class teaching will better serve to provide the students with more chances of communication and enhance their team spirit. Last, I would like to express my thanks to A&F who offered us this opportunity and to the cadres and teachers who were supportive in this program. Though the teaching ended, it never means an end but an new beginning of our academic life. We firmly believe that our life will be a prosperous one if we keep practicing our university motto and lay solid foundation for next step.
The Course Conducted by Wouter from Wageningen Animal Science(2009) Wang Longchong Dr. W.(Wouter) Hazeleger is an assistant professor from Wageningen University. Maybe it is not suitable for me to call directly my teacher's name in Chinese culture. But he said he preferred the appellation of Wouter rather than “teacher” or “professor” because he'd like to be a friend of us.That's the one thing I want to say.
When we took the first lecture on February 1, 2012, the reproduction professor ,who wore grey hair and aged over sixty, impressed me deeply—he was as lively as a child. Wouter often made exaggerated facial expressions and gestures in the class. Sometimes he imitated the animals' temperament and even sounds to convey his ideas. And he always encouraged us to interrupt him as long as we could not understand any point. Actually, the learning proved to be very difficult for us because we had not got used to English lectures yet. He know that, so he often repeated one sentence twice, especially it was related to the important part. As time goes by, I felt easier to keep up with him.
He was more active after class. I'd had at least five meals together with him, and he often told funny stories, described the lifestyle in Netherlands and answered our irrelevant questions. He taught us many about the difference between eastern culture and western culture. He said that people in Europe always tell the truth, and just always. So if he said he was full, he meant he was full and sometimes it could also imply that he did not like the food at all. However, the truth is that he adores Chinese food very much. Except the knowledge of western culture, another advantage to have meals with him is the improvement of my oral English. Because I found that I could speak out many sentences without hesitation to express myself when we were talking.
The two-week course has been over now. And thanks to this project, I have learnt a lot of knowledge including the reproduction information of course, the English skills and the experience of getting along with a foreigner. I appreciate this opportunity very much as acknowledgment would be given to our Northwest A &F University and College of Innovative Experiment.
My Gains from the W-Program Animal Science Class 084 Wang Yihan Overseas study is no longer a blue moon for most Chinese students, especially when the countless English learners have tried hard to fulfill this dream. However, too much effort has been made to learn English while the improvement of other abilities has been discounted for a long time. In turn, it will be a tough journey for the Chinese students to adjust to the teaching and learning pace of foreign universities. Although the verbal communication with foreigners have been as easy as a pie for the most now, the foreign teaching and class atmosphere are still something new to most Chinese students. Therefore, class in winter vocation opened a new window to me and expanded my views to great extend. The foreign teachers emphasized the teaching and learning atmosphere, so they attach more importance to the full understanding of the students. We were encouraged to be active in group discussion and in livening up the class atmosphere. The teachers, in addition, advocated that we learn to ask Why for full understanding of the knowledge. The students were a little bit shy in summer class, which was greatly reversed in winter class. Having been used to this heuristic teaching methodology, we felt free to raise questions to the teachers. On the other hand, the teachers were responsive to any questions even some simple ones. What’s more, the answer also came with praise to the questioners. No doubt that, in this lively atmosphere, we learnt from our teachers not only professional knowledge but also learning methods.
My Gains with Ecstasy Animal Science Class 082 Wen Xinyu If you love the life from the bottom of your heart, you will slow down to enjoy it; if you enjoy the good times, you will linger on the happiness and joy in those days; if you regret not to have known the one, a stranger before, you will be friends in no time.
I would like to extend my thanks to all the teachers and classmates of this program. It is you who better my understanding of love between teachers and students, friends, and inspire my passion of concentration. There is still a long way to get to the destination. So, moving on without hesitation, 2012!
Fruitful Vocation Business Administration (2009) Zhang Jie The inspiring and inviting classes conducted by Professor Nel Wognum and Professor Wouter Hazeleger from Wageningen Universit, Holland, the full preparation of teaching facilities and materials offered by our college greatly animated us and get rid off our hesitation. I found myself a beneficiary of the ten-day training. On one hand, I took it a great opportunity to attend this program, in which I got my abilities improved and views broadened. I found great cultural differences in lifestyle and teaching between China and Western counties. On the other hand, all teaching was implemented in English, the teaching, the assignment and even the test which affected me in understanding the teaching contents and bothered me a lot at first. However, I pulled myself together and faught to adapt myself to the new teaching method. More and more, I can follow the pace of this new learning and improved my English competence. In addition, the course Supply Chain Management offered in this program was closely related to the professional course I studied at university. Therefore, I made analytic comparison in my study so as to find out the relevance between the two courses.
Unique Class Business Administration 2009 Qin Zheng After the exhausting traveling in train, I arrived at university and had a good rest for the new class next morning. Professor Nel Wognum who taught us Supply Chain Management was an easygoing person. The whole morning was for teaching while the afternoon was group assignment time and interview time. When it comes to my turn for interview, the teacher introduced Wageningen University to me and gave me some advice in English learning. Professor Nel also encouraged me to work on the other universities’ scholarships for further study. She said “Your destiny is not lied in the hand of Wageningen University but your own. Go and find what you truly like and strive for it with perseverance.” Though the teaching of this program came to an end, it will bring us lifelong effect. The smile of professor Nico, the warm hug of Egbert and the informative tuition of professor Nel leap before my eyes. Outgoing personality, rigorous attitude toward academy and optimistic pursuit of life all impress me so much. In this program, my English capacity got improved, the team spirit strengthened and the abilities to analyze and solve problems greatly enhanced as well. I am gratitude to our college for what I have benefited from this opportunity.
2012—The Year for My Dream of Overseas Study Agriculture-Forest Economic Management Class 081 Yan Han From Feb 1st to 10th,2012, I went back to university from home for the second curriculum of Wageningen University Program. It was during the short period that I have benefited so much. Different instructors with innovative teaching methods brought so impressive feelings to me, the one who had never experienced the western teaching style. I really enjoyed the process and learnt much from it. First, English was always one of the essential keys to success. Second, critical thinking takes priority over any other aspects in learning. Third, cooperation, as a kind of spirit is badly needed and indispensable in self-development. Fourth, interest can keep oneself inspired. In the ten days, what I have seen, learnt and heard not only serve to enrich my college life, but also exert lifelong effect on me. |
