On the afternoon of November 15th, CIE Y2013 academic mentor of bio-science class associate professor Pu Shuhai was invited to gave a tutorial themed on Introduction to Life Science Discipline and Instruction of Master’s Degree Study, which over 60 CIE students of Y2013 took part in.
Mr. Pu initiated his speech by familiarizing the student with the importance of discipline and efficiency in scientific research, followed by his detailed explanation on the general situation of mentor resources, research orientation and laboratory’s construction of Life Science College. His analysis of the development and status quo of each discipline was suggestive and instructive to the students as well. Specifying with CIE 2+X talents cultivation model and preparation needed for X period study, he advised the students to lay solid foundation of knowledge through academic study and to enhance the development of personal interest. In addition, he suggested the student make rational optional of research orientation and academic mentor, which were supposed to cater for their personal preference in study and interest.
He also shared his experience in how to improve study efficiency and how to develop interest in scientific research. He hoped the CIE students can develop to a versatile person who can do well both in research and humanity study.
Mr. Pu’s report was simple but profound, which shortened the distance between teacher and students, enlightening the students in making academic study plan and preparation for Master’s Degree study.
