On the evening of Nov 17th, the race for 3rd prize of first A&F Hanzhang Cup Debate Competition was held in Xiushan hall on north campus. Themed on A Good Horse Will/ Will Never Turn Around to Graze on an Old Pasture, the heated debate between the Pro team of College of Water Resources and Architecture Engineering and the Con of CIE ended with CIE picking up the prize and CIE student Wang Xi from bio-science experiment class 131 crowned Best Debater.

Expressive as both parties, CIE team stood out of the competition with targeted and persuasive argument of “aggressive and fearless attitude of good horse”, “ spiritual pursuit of good horse”  and “the sense of social responsibility of good horse” , against the ideas of the opponent “to make things up with old pasture” “ benefiting from the familiarity with old pasture” and “ win-win solution”. What more fabulous was that the two parties argued over the issue of “Jobs’ return to Apple company” and “Musician Rattle’s return to Berlin Philharmonic”, and lightened the intense atmosphere with their heated debate, copious quotation and witty remarks. Finally, CIE team defeated the opponent with score of 859 to 831 and picked up the 3rd prize of first A&F Hanzhang Cup Debate Competition.   

The great success is attributed to the effort and hard working of the young team, whose quick-minded and diligent members shared their experience in debate with their successor-debater. CIE debate team has collected champion of the A&F Yingcai Cup Debate Competition and the A&F Qihang Cup Debate Competition, who manifested the team spirit and brilliance of CIE students as well as glorify our college.
