When their peers were celebrating the Chinese Youth Day at parties, CIE student volunteers spent the meaningful day in a special way. They went to take pictures for all elders of the local village, recording the good times of the old people who have been dreaming of this for ages. With their practical action, the kind photographers devoted themselves to promoting the Chinese virtue of respecting the elders.
The volunteer team of over ten members carried two professional cameras to the villagers’ twice, one for taking pictures and another for sending the printed pictures. The elders were so moved and happy, who said that they hadn’t been taking pictures for decades, let alone pictures of personal life. The volunteers also kept in mind that the aim of this activity was to know about the needs of the elders and make any effort to help them.
The praise of the elders was evident to the success of this activity. Both the elders and the student volunteers enjoyed the affection between them.
