| | Recently, the lecture series, Acquaint with Discipline, Plan for the Future, designed by our college for freshmen was launched officially. The first lecture titled Research and Application of YS-type Thermo-sensitive Cytoplasmic Male Sterility Wheat was held in multi-media classroom of our college. Professor Song Xiyue, academic instructor of students in Grade 2010, was invited to host the lecture. More than 60 Agronomy major students of Grade 2010 were present.
In the lecture, Associate Professor Song Xiyue briefly overviewed the disciplinary basic information of Agronomy at our university, in particular of Crop Genetic and Breeding. Professor Song's report covered breeding and utilization of thermo-sensitive hybrid wheat. He detailed the research on the establishment and genetic characteristics of YS-Type temperature sensitive CMS wheat lines, focusing on the selected breeding of thermo-sensitive Male sterile line, molecular mechanism of temperature sensitivity of reproduction Gene in K-type winter wheat and production system of hybrid wheat. The students were absorbed in the informative report which lasted one hour, who also acquainted the basic information in development of our university agronomy.
The series lectures aimed at helping freshmen promptly cognize disciplines they are interested, make feasible academy plan and be goal-oriented. To better implement the practice and guarantee its efficiency, more experts and students instructors will be invited to conduct lectures and face-to-face exchange.
