| On the morning of July 1st, 2010, Ouyang An, associate professor from Science College was organizing open-mode teaching class on Linear Algebra to Economic Management majors (Innovative Experiment College) of class 091 and 092. The class was going in the multimedia classroom of Innovative Experiment College. The class was about Report on Application of Linear Algebra in Ecology Research. Deputy Director of Science College, Professor Guo Mancai, Professor Liu Yaxiang and a number of other teachers participated in lectures. Two graduate teaching assistants. presided over the class. At the preparation stage, all students were divided into 10 groups. They were required to make survey of the Application of Linear Algebra in Ecology. In class, each group presented in turn their process and result of investigation. Some of them also demonstrated their innovations to the audience. The use of EXCEL spreadsheets and SPSS statistical analysis software to organize data was a highlight of this activity. Analysis of Calculation of the Regression Model of Car Saturation made by student Liu Yue won the praise of everyone. Professor Liu Yaxiang from Science College commented on the classes and complemented the good job the students had done. This teaching activity fully exercised the students’ ability of making surveys, processing datum and delivering speech, which at the same time transformed teaching in mathematics class and broke the limitation of relying only on the way of teacher-dominant teaching method. In actual research, learning and using knowledge will not only help students acquire knowledge, but also help to promote the reform of teaching.
