In order to enhance the psychological quality of NWAFU students, enrich their campus life, and exercise their reasoning and logical thinking abilities, the Holmes Reasoning Contest, sponsored by CIE, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agronomy, College of Forestry, College of Food Science and Engineering, and College of Landscape Architecture and Arts, opened its forth session on April 19th and 20th.

The preliminary was held in No. 8. teaching building, in which nearly 350 participants competed on the spot. Through the closed-book Q&A, the top 27 groups with the highest total scores enter the semi-finals. The preliminary questions are mainly simple reasoning questions, logical thinking questions, Sudoku, optimal solutions, etc. The question types covered multiple choice questions, blank-filling questions and short answer questions, designed to examine students' observation, reasoning and logical thinking abilities. At the competition site, the students fully focused on the questions.

Wang Yinuo, one of the contestant from CIE said, “The topic of this competition is rich in variety, novel, and involved in content and reasoning knowledge. It can cultivate and examine my logical thinking ability. I really enjoyed the contest because it also enriches my extracurricular life.”

Jiang Beixiang, another contestant from College of Veterinary Medicine said, “ I highly appreciate the chance given by this contest. It is a platform on which we can demonstrate our talents in reasoning, and an opportunity for us to learn and reflect. I hope this competition will be part of our university’s tradition and have more contestants join in.”

This competition not only sets up a platform for students to show their charm in logical reasoning, but also enriches their college life and brings them happiness.
