On October 30th, led by CIE Associate Dean Wang Xaioping, 35 CIE students came to Baishui county where located the NWAFU Apple Experiment Station, having their teaching and research practice.

Mz. Yang Fang, a teacher working at the station warmly welcome the visitors. She then showed the students around the station and introduced the current situation of apple tree cultivation in China and overseas. The students visited the new variety breeding district, major variety experimental area and varieties comparison area and learnt about the researches and techniques in apple breeding.

What surprised the students most was the exhibition of Ruiyang and Ruixue---two new apple varieties. The reddish Ruiyang and yellow Ruixue hang in the trees, as elegant and pretty as ladies. The students were also exposed to the specialties, yield and cultivation of the two varieties. Their big size, high yield, fragrant smell, storable character and sweet taste promise their potential wide popularity in neat future as soon as they are promoted to local farmers. Proudly, these two varieties were research fruits of NWAFU who enjoys the intellectual property. As examined and approved by by Shaanxi Fruiter Variety Committee, the two varieties have been another significant achievement made by NWAFU, second to Qinguan variety. 

This teaching practice familiarizes the students with science knowledge and furthers their understanding of research work. It takes even over a decade to cultivate a new variety through trials and errors. The research requires its practitioners to be knowledgeable, patient, goal-oriented and persistent. The students have been greatly inspired and intrigued in research and professional study.
