Our College Organized Symposium on Mid-term Teaching Inspection of 2011 Spring

    From May 9 to 12, College of Innovative Experiment organized serial symposium of four group meetings for teachers concerned and students representatives from grade 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively.

    At the symposium for students of grade 2008, our college authorities detailed the schedule and requirements concerning thesis proposal and thesis writing to the students in Master Degree Programme. In addition, they also informed the students of the basic principles and requirements in students' academic evaluation. It was emphasized that students were supposed to strengthen ties with their academic instructors. Meanwhile, more devoted to research training, students should put their back in research practice to get their quality enhanced to lay solid foundation for future academic study and research.

    At the symposium for students in grade 2009, teachers and leaders were responsive to the questions related to the students' selection work being conducted. In the course of discussion, basic requirements and procedures were well-conveyed while some vital suggestion about how to make option in academic research orientation and instructors were logically offered to the students.

    At another symposium for students of 2010, the college authorities gave some advice on Scientific and Technological Innovative Research Programme to be conducted in next term. Target-oriented spirit would be greatly encouraged in the practice of innovative programme, which required the students to be bald in sharing their own inspiration with their academic supervisors for professional instruction, to develop the basic research capacity via independent exploration and practice and to be well-prepared for the application of the programme.

    The symposium for teachers focused on the appointed-teaching and curriculum reform. Teachers present were open to exchanges their ideas and experience. It was a shared idea that teaching conducted for innovative experiment classes should value the cultivation of students' capacity. Namely, research training like Scientific and Technological Innovative Programme can serve to better students' understanding in theoretical knowledge, while improving their experiment skills. Additionally, the evaluation can be conducted in many approached, among which the traditional paper test would not be the dominant one, while the over-all assessment and evaluation of the learning outcome should be promoted with the practical ability of students taken into consideration.

    This serial symposium enabled the further communication to be conducted among the students, teachers and college administrators. It was a fruitful practice both theoretically and practically which functioned efficiently in promoting the teaching reform.
